Gmail let you send SMS and add Task for Free

Do you have a feeling that most of the things or services in the Internet are free, but not in the real world. You can call another PC using Skype for free, you can have a video chat for free. But when you back in real world, you will be charged for making a voice call or send a sms. A platform that bridge the two would be very attractive.

Skype already let you call any phone in the US for free, now Gmail let you send any sms and have a sms chat for free, unfortunately, this services is only for number registered in US (again only US). Take a look at the screen shot below from Gmail blog.

As mentioned in my previous posts, I would expect a greater integration between Google Calender with Gmail, now there is something, Gmail allows you to Add Task in Gmail, you can either create a new tast list like:

Or you can also add your mail to be a task....

I would suggest some of the additiona features:

1) add in the reminder service, so that we can set alarm, and an email or pop out windows will remind us to perform the task.

2) add in the follow up task, i.e. for every task, it can have multiple actions, say you have a meeting on Tue 2pm, then some followup action could be: submit the minute on Wed 10am, book the meeting for next meeting on Thu 11am, etc....

Once again, maybe I get used to Microsoft Outlook, but I think combine the task and calender into the Gmail will be great. And I will not hestitate to make Gmail for my official email.
